Drop limit

After a bit of discussion, I convinced Graham that we needed to put in a daily drop limit. This went in today, you cannot drop more than 50 times in one day.

The reasoning is that the traffic that we're generating, we'd like to be "quality" traffic. That is, there's a decent chance that they're willing to read a bit of your site and see if it's something they'd like. This doesn't happen if people are busy rushing from blog to blog in a desperate attempt to get credits, so while we want to reward people for breaking out of their normal routine and going and having a look around, we don't want to particularly reward the "rushers".

We understand, however, that card dropping is *fun*. So we picked a number (50) that seemed reasonable after looking at the average number of drops people did. We're open to changing this, and there's also the option of allowing the drop but simply not giving a credit for it. Leave a comment or enter feedback on your dashboard if you have preferences.

personally i dont think having a drop limit is good. it definitely discourage member in the network from visiting other members blog.

for those members who are very addicted to drop cards daily, now that you limit it, they will just stop dropping after visiting 50 sites.

those who are not quality visitors will still be non-qulaity whether if there is any limit.

and you can start to see the rate of the space starting to drop because frequent clicker stop clicking after dropping at 50 blogs. lower ad rate means you get to tax lesser too.

That's a valid argument. I think perhaps we'll leave the limit in place for 24 hours and see what the net effect is on the drop numbers.

Even if the numbers don't go down appreciably, you definitely have a point about the psychological effect on people who might otherwise drop.

Regarding the space rate, by our calculations there should be only a minor effect, only a small percentage of the total droppers drop more than 50 cards, but again we track that number and we'll be able to tell if the average spot price drops.

I spend all day at work going from blog to blog, skimming it to see if something catches my eye, and dropping a card. Now I can only spend an hour? Not fair...
